Green with Envy

As the most popular shopping days of the year are upon us with Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday I wanted to take the time to remind everyone not to forget about supporting their local small businesses this holiday retail season.

Of course SexyPlus Clothing is one of my favourite locally owned boutiques and I always stop in and visit on a regular basis to see what new arrivals Stefanie has in store, especially for the holiday season.

I had seen this dress, “The Vixen” in an email I received from Kiyonna and was immediately a fan of this new style.  But when I walked into SexyPlus and saw it in person it was way better than I could have imagined.

I love my classic Kiyonna shapes but when they come out with a new silhouette or style it is so exciting.  This dress is the perfect cocktail dress.  It is a sheath silhouette with 3/4 length sleeves, a hem that falls just at or below the knee, a V-neck line and is a faux wrap.

But what is super special about this dress is the corset lacing on the one side that is adjustable.  This allows you to really customize the shape of the dress to your body and accentuates all the right curves.  It also creates beautiful draping and light ruching for anyone who may be looking for a little tummy camouflage.

If you look at this dress on the Kiyonna website the colour is shown as teal but I would argue that this is more on the green side and somewhere between teal and forest or hunter green.  It definitely looked different in person.  I think this colour is perfect for the holiday season and will look flattering on many skin tones and hair colours.

I am wearing the 4x in this dress which is my typical Kiyonna size but I was especially happy with the fit on this dress.  Sometimes I find the sleeves can be a little tight for me with their pieces but this one was great.

To accessorize this look I decided to play on some of the most hottest trends right now – sparkle and metallics.  I recently got these amazing shoes from Eloquii.  Block heels are also a huge trend this fall which I am personally thrilled with because I have a much easier time wearing them as they offer much needed stability.  And these are a reasonable height at 2 5/8 inches.  And I mean do you honestly think I could resist the full sparkle effect and a bow?  I think not!

This beautiful statement necklace with it’s stunning topaz stone and the coordinating earrings are also from SexyPlus.  I have talked on the blog before about the great selection of accessories that are available in store but I am pleased to share that they are also now available to purchase online.  A statement gold cuff from my personal collection finished it off.

And last but certainly not least I just got this amazing new bag from Aldo.  I couldn’t resist the rose gold colour with the varying shades of metallics in the 3D flower appliques.  It is a great size bag and that perfect special piece that adds interest to any look.

Remember ladies when you look fabulous, you feel fabulous!  And I definitely felt fabulous in this dress.
